The A-Z Reading Challenge

Islandhopper or Ihop introduced a new reading challenge on Shelfari.com meant especially for those who are guilty of hoarding books yet can’t find time to read (was she talking about me? hehe).
One rule is that for every letter in the alphabet, you have to pick one author that you haven’t read yet and get to know him/her. And you have to finish everything on your list in a year’s time.
Sounds cool, right? I know you want to join in on the fun so click here. :D

my author picks

I miss some letters, you say? Well, that’s because I’m forbidden to acquire more books until we could get our house in order. :(
In a few weeks, we would be moving temporarily somewhere else and most of my books are safely stowed in a box ready to be hauled as soon as we have to go. The books mentioned above are the only ones I have within easy reach. But I still have a year anyway to complete this challenge so who knows? I might be able to find the “missing” authors just in time. :)

Devouring

The finals week had me running on constant nervous energy that I wasn’t able to fully concentrate on the lessons and review materials I prepared much less to read a non-textbook. Even days after that grueling period, still I wasn’t able to get back into a good reading groove not until I was able to submit all the teachers’ respective class requirements and get some good nights sleep. So now that I’m playing the waiting game (for finals grade plus the results of the entrance test to masters class), I want to enjoy every minute of it with what else but reading.

The TBR grew considerably despite my supposed “aversion” from books during that time (Booksale Emall is just a few blocks away from school so what can I say? :P). Crossing my fingers I’d get to devour these new ones along with those already in the list (see The Pile) before the year ends or I’d get non-stop cries of “you’re always buying books yet you can’t even finish them coz you’re too busy doing other stuff.” Some people can be quite, er, frank. Hehehe

The softbound books featured here are products of my endless hours of poring over bargain books at Booksale. They should give me a Christmas gift or something for being such a loyal customer. Hehe
I picked the cute stuffed toy from a flea market in Colon St. Think she should have a name? ;)
Not in the picture is Moran’s Cleopatra’s Daughter and Collins’ The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. Will dedicate separate blog entries for those. ^_^
