The Cabinet of Earths by Anne Nesbet

SUMMARY: All Maya really wants is for her mother to be well again. But when her baby brother James goes missing, 12-year-old Maya has to take on the magical underworld of Paris, in which houses have bronze salamanders for door handles, the most beautiful people are all hooked on the sweet-smelling β€œanbar,” and a shimmering glass Cabinet of Earths has chosen Maya to be its next keeper. With the Cabinet’s help, Maya may be able to do for her mother what doctors cannot: save her from death, once and for all. But now that the clock is ticking for James, the price the Cabinet demands may be too high.

Adventure books always get my adrenaline going. So I can’t wait for this book to come out. What about you? What are you waiting on Wednesday?πŸ˜‰

    • But your blog’s header is way nicer. I love the colors.πŸ™‚

Thanks for dropping by. I like The Cabinet of Earths, too. I think it was supposed to be published autumn this year but I don’t know what happened that they moved the pub date until 2012. Oh well, can’t hurt waiting for a few months more. Hehe
Btw, I love your choice for this week. ^_^

      • Yeah, sometimes it’s sad the pub date gets postponed. But you are right, it doesn’t hurt. It’s not usual to find most bloggers who feature MG nowadays. But I’ll be featuring more MG and YA together, starting tonight!!! Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my blog! I appreciated it a lot!!

  1. I’m usually not much of a middle-grade reader, but lately I’ve been so entranced by the summaries for these kind of books!! (Leisl and Po in particular – Lauren Oliver is amazing). The Cabinet of Earths sounds so good. Magical underground of PARIS? I am sold!πŸ™‚

    • There are heaps of MG novels that I personally think are better than some YA books. Leisl and Po included in that list. That’s why it’s on my wishlist. Thanks, Brodie, for dropping by!πŸ˜‰

    • Thanks, Jo. As much as I want to visit everyone’s blog, I’m pressed for time most of the time so I usually just pick 5-7 random blogs to visit (with the exception of Mocha’s since it’s a weekly fix for me). Hope MG novels will charm their way on you.πŸ™‚

  2. My adrenaline’s already going into frenzy just reading that summary. I love ‘race against time’ plots. They make things fun and tense and EPIC. It’s MG, though, so I don’t know…

    • It seems some adults get turned off from a book when they learn that it’s geared for MG or for kids. But I think they should give MG novels a chance. There are plenty of MG books that are even better in plot and characterization than some YA’s.
Checked out your blog and subscribed. It’s really cool.πŸ™‚

  3. Hi, there! Thank you so very much for visiting my blog and commenting on my WOW post!! I see that you have a list of blogs you had planned to visit, and mine was included. That’s real nice of you!!

This book certainly sounds excitiing, as well as intriguing! I’ve never heard ot this author or this book, but I’ll certainly look them both up on Goodreads! I, too, LOVE books with adventure-filled plots. This one seems to really fit the bill!

    Thanks for sharing !! : )
