Waiting on Wednesday #9

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

It’s no secret to the people who have known me for a long time that I can’t swim. I’m a mean rower behind a kayak but leave me to my own limbs to navigate the waters, I’d as soon drown. That’s why I thought I’d pick this particular book by debut author Edward Hogan as some sort of reminder for myself to take up swimming (seriously!) next year. Haha. Let’s see if I won’t chicken out. πŸ˜€

Daylight Saving by Edward Hogan

SUMMARY: This is a brilliant thriller ghost story by a new name in teenage fiction. When Daniel Lever is dragged to Leisure World Holiday Complex for some “time away” with his depressed dad, his expectations are low. Daniel is overweight, he hates sport, and his father has brought along his beloved tomato plant. But soon Daniel spots a girl swimming in the fake lake. Lexi is elegant and smart, but very mysterious. Why are her bruises getting worse each time she and Daniel meet? And is her watch really ticking backwards? A dark figure stalks the pair, and as British summer time approaches, Daniel has to act quickly. Their souls depend on it.

Ghosts. Swimming. Mystery. Swimming. What’s not to be excited about? What about you? What are you waiting on Wednesday? πŸ˜‰

  1. Oh my! another amazing discovery tonight! Thank you so much for sharing! Love the sound of it! and the cover!

I’m also a BIG swimming fan, I used to swim everyday including weekends but then I got in med school and gained 20 punds :/ haha

but this book sounds so good, it might even take me back to my glory days(?).

  2. Precisely the reasons why I can’t wait for the book, too. Thanks for dropping by, Penelope! I absolutely love what you featured today. πŸ™‚

  3. Oooh, I haven’t heard of this one before. I agree, swimming is an immediate yes! I think I shall go add this to my TBR list now. Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

  4. Ha, I’m the same as you! I took so many swimming lessons when I was in school, but did they help me? Not in the slightest. I HATE putting my head under the water, the chlorine in the pool gave me blood noses more often than not and.. did I mention I hate putting my head under water? I totally freak out. So deep water + me = a death sentence haha.

But I am SO excited for Daylight Saving! It has such a fascinating plot and I love ghost stories! Fantastic pick ❀

    • My bf thinks it’s so weird for someone like me who lives in an island not to know how to swim. I told him that swimming is just not for everyone. But if he would dare to race with him on a kayak, I am so gonna kick his butt. πŸ˜€

And thanks for stopping by, Brodie! πŸ˜‰

  5. Wow great pick! I haven’t heard of this one yet but it sounds good. I am definitely adding this one to my list. The cover is so cool also!

  6. Thanks so much for visiting my blog! ( :
I’m a total HP fan too; I adore the series and can’t wait to read them all for myself! AWESOME!

Never heard of this one, but I’m not into scary (HP is prpbably the limit) thriller and scary books, so I don’t think I would risk reading it! ( :

Would love to hear from you. Please leave a reply. ;)
